Frequently Asked Questions

HOW DO I PREPARE FOR MY MAKEUP APPLICATION?

Gently exfoliate your skin the night before your appointment as this will allow for a smooth makeup application. If you're planning to use a face mask/sheet mask, please use the night before as well. Cleanse your skin and apply your regular skin care products (keep it simple and don't try any new products you haven't used before) the morning of your appointment and ensure you have a clean, makeup free face. Any facials, waxing, dermaplaning and/or spray tanning should be done 1-3 weeks prior to your appointment to avoid any skin irritations or issues arising. If you wear contacts please put them in before I arrive and if possible, wear something that is easy to remove (a zip-up, button up or robe for example) to avoid smudging the finished makeup look. Lastly, bring inspiration photos to eliminate the guesswork and better understand your makeup goals!

HOW FAR IN ADVANCE SHOULD I BOOK AND HOW DO I SECURE MY DATE?

Book your Makeup Artist as soon as possible. Bookings are on a first come first serve basis and availability changes instantly therefore early booking is recommended.

In order to secure your date a 50% deposit is required. Once the deposit has been received, I will hold your date. Deposits are non-refundable and non-transferable under any circumstances.

I DO NOT KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE WILL NEED MAKEUP - WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I recommend booking the amount of people that have confirmed they want services at the time of the booking to avoid waiting and possibly losing your date. If at a later time, more people would like to be added just let me know and I will try my best to accommodate them if my schedule permits. Please note, I can only guarantee the services that were initially booked and there may be a chance I will not be able to add others if I have a booking that conflicts before and/or after yours.

HOW DO I DECIDE THE FINISH TIME FOR MY BOOKING?

The finish time should be anywhere between 1-2 hours before you have to leave to allow time for photos, getting dressed, final touches etc. The more time you allow for yourself the better! Trust me, you do not want to feel rushed before any event.

CAN I CHANGE THE SCHEDULED TIME AT A LATER DATE?

I always try my best to accommodate if possible and I know some appointments are booked so far in advance it's hard to give me a confirmed time right away. However, I ask that you please provide me the most accurate "time range" possible that way I am able to book myself accordingly before and/or after your booking and you will still have a secured time slot.

SHOULD I UPGRADE TO MINK LASHES?

Lashes are included in all makeup services and I always take my time to pick out the perfect lash that best suits your eye shape and your requested eye look. But if you're thinking about upgrading to mink, I highly recommend it - especially for my Brides! They are lightweight, reusable and they really take your makeup to the next level while still looking soft and natural.

WHAT IS AIRBRUSH?

Airbrush makeup is proven to be longer lasting which is great for those hot summer days or if your skin is more on the oily side. It is a lightweight full coverage foundation that looks flawless and natural on the skin. Your makeup will look smoother, photograph beautifully and most importantly, last all day which is why I include it in all my services!

WHY ARE BRIDAL TRIALS SO IMPORTANT?

Bridal trials are not required but are highly recommended. You will get a chance to meet your makeup artist and design and customize your dream makeup look together! We will start with a consultation to discuss your likes and dislikes, what you want to achieve, how to best enhance your natural beauty so it looks great in person and in photos and we will discuss any plans or important details regarding your Wedding Day. If you are considering booking a trial, I recommend booking your trial 2-3 months before your Wedding Day so the look stays fresh in your memory and in case you decide to change some aspects of the final look before the big day.

HOW DO YOU KEEP YOUR KIT CLEAN?

I carry a lot of makeup brushes with me so thankfully I'm able to use a different set of brushes for each client to keep everything separate! At the end of every day, I will thoroughly wash them with a brush shampoo and let them dry overnight and spray it with alcohol to ensure they are 100% clean and sanitized. I also spray alcohol on my palettes and use lysol wipes on all the surfaces, brush handles and any equipment I may use to ensure everything has been deep cleaned. I try my best to ensure my tools and products are kept clean and sanitized however, I cannot be held accountable for any allergic reactions or any complications that may occur during or after the makeup application. Any allergies, irritations or sensitivities should be discussed and reported to your artist prior to your event to try and prevent any issues arising. A trial is highly recommended in cases like these to test products that agree with you.

WHY IS A DEPOSIT REQUIRED TO SECURE THE BOOKING?

To be completely honest, the deposit protects both the client and myself - plain and simple! The client is protected by knowing that their requested date and time slot is secure and I am protected in knowing I have work that day.

WHY IS THERE A TRAVEL FEE?

In studio appointments are currently unavailable. All bookings are mobile and on location and subject to a travel fee. Please take into consideration that gas prices are fluctuating drastically on a daily basis and their is wear and tear, car maintenance and added kilometres from travelling all over the GTA. As a makeup artist we have to pack/unpack and load/unload our very heavy makeup kits and carry it up and down flights of stairs and sometimes up and down steep crosswalks and far distances. And the time it takes to travel to you and any tolls fees are all factored into this fee. Ultimately, the travel to your home, hotel, airbnb etc. is to make it more convenient for you.

IF AFTER READING THIS YOU STILL HAVE QUESTIONS, PLEASE DO NOT HESITATE TO EMAIL ME AT INFO@JZBEAUTY.CA OR VISIT THE CONTACT PAGE.

ARE YOU PET FRIENDLY?

I love animals! I have had and have been around many different kinds of pets and as long as they don't bite me I'm more than happy to be around them!

DO YOU WORK ALONE OR DO YOU HAVE A TEAM?

At the moment, I work alone. However, for large groups of 5 or more people I do have assistants and other makeup artists to help with bookings and cut the getting ready time in half. Please note, assistants and other artists added to bookings have different pricing and/or fees.

WHAT PRODUCTS DO YOU USE?

Some of the makeup products I use are from MAC, Makeup Forever, Makeup by Mario, Patrick Ta, Charlotte Tilbury, Anastasia Beverly Hills, Temptu, Chanel, Dior, Nars, Urban Decay, Estee Lauder and more!
